Words And Music Festival 2025

I was honoured that Rob Pursey and Amelia Fletcher asked me to play this wonderful festival, the weekend just gone. I had a fabulous time despite being in pain a lot and getting cramp that sent me hilariously out of tune during Your Woman. But I kept on singing, the show must go on!

I didn’t get the chance to see the whole day but I chatted with loads of people before and after my gig and it was such a positive, chill vibe. It made me miss Indietracks to be honest, not least because I saw a lot of faces I used to see there every July.

Here’s me a-warbling:

My fave bit was when I got the one and only AMELIA FLETCHER to sing the second verse on Your Woman. Yep – AMELIA FLETCHER! Who I’ve been listening to since… 1986? ’87? Apart from Talulah Gosh and Heavenly and Tender Trap and Marine Research and Catenary Wires, how many classic songs have a sprinkling of Amelia’s gold dust? Here’s a pic of us:

And I think you can see how chuffed I was to have her sing. If you told me back in the ’80s that one day Amelia would be singing one of my songs, I would have laughed like a kookaburra.

Thank you again Rob and Amelia for inviting me and I hope to be back someday!
